September feels like the “in-between” Month. Too many tend to ignore it and want to hurry it along. Let’s enjoy our September 2020 with some great reads.
1. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Billy’s story begins in World War II as a chaplain’s assistant. Although he is apart of the War, he doesn’t enjoy the War part of it. . .to the extent that he refuses to fight and in the processing gets captured by Germans.
Kurt writes Billy’s story in the way that it capture’s the imagination and the exploration of beyond. It’s not just a life lived during World War II, it’s a life that traverses time and space.

2. Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A Heinlein
In this Sci-Fi novel, you explore planet Earth through Valentine’s eyes, a human raised by Martians. Born on a spacecraft called Envoy, on their way to Mars, the craft experiences issues causing Valentine to be the sole survivor to crash on planet Mars.
The moment that craft went down, the Earth sent a craft of their own to investigate the missing craft. In that process, they located Valentine. In a mission to bring him home and teach him the Earth ways, Valentine gets to explore lust, love, and the Earth ways.

3. The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
Following Father Sandoz on a trip through space, this novel describes the planet wide discovery of extraterrestrial beings. Rather than sitting back and waiting for something to happen, a crew was sent to explore the recently discovered planet called Rakhat.
This is a journey full of discovery. The beautiful way that Mary wrote, allowed the novel to vibrate as you read. You will be immediately immersed in a spiritual story of love, heartbreak, and sorrow.
